DOL Backlog Reduction Centers Become Operational
The Department of Labor Regional offices in Dallas and Philadelphia have
started to transfer pending labor certification applications to the Backlog
Reduction Centers in those cities. Employers and their representatives
can expect to receive transfer notifications from the Centers that will
include a request to update information for data entry purposes. Since
the 45-day DOL response rule applies, it is imperative to timely provide
the requested information. A late or incomplete response will result in
DOL closing the file. While the American Immigration Lawyers Association's
DOL Liaison Committee is urging the agency to reconsider such a harsh
consequence, it is in the employers' and their foreign national employees'
interest not to delay the response.
We urge our employers to immediately contact our office upon receiving
a DOL Backlog Reduction Center notice.
